‘Tis The Season
’Tis the season to stay open-hearted
without entangling yourself in the process.
The holiday season can be cozy and magical…
It can also test your boundaries, activate old patterns, and pull you toward familiar but outdated expectations.
Allow yourself to set boundaries to be fully present, clear, and composed — without the self-depletion, shrinking, or overgiving that once cost you YOU.
Here are a few neuroscience-informed practices to anchor your boundaries and presence this season.
✨Discernment: I witness other people’s emotions without absorbing them.
👉Notice your physical cues (tension, breath changes, or micro-reactions) as signals to stay present without taking on another’s energy.
✨Capacity: I honor my limits and only give the time, energy, and emotional capacity that I have.
👉Practice micro-breaks: a brief pause, deep breath, or a grounding movement to restore your nervous system before engaging.
✨Self-Honesty: I pause to check in with myself before responding or engaging.
👉Use physical cues (body posture, breath, or heart rate) to guide intentional action rather than auto-pilot responses.
✨Choice: I honor my wellbeing with food, drink, and participation, staying fully present without giving in to pressure.
👉Notice social expectation or “shoulds” as signals to pause, breathe, and normalize alignment with your personal commitments and values.
Take a slow breath in. Soft breath out. Reclaim your boundaries.
You’ve got this 💛
