Job Searching Advice Is Everywhere
Job searching advice is everywhere, and it can feel overwhelming.
From “manifest your dream job” to “apply to 100+ roles a week,” the guidance can be polarizing, especially if you're already burnt out or unsure where to begin.
If you’ve frozen in place, you’re not broken ❤️🩹.
The freeze response is normal, especially when stress is high, energy is low, and your nervous system is waving a tiny white flag. The important thing isn’t to push through with force, it’s to start somewhere, and when you’re ready, design your job search with progress in mind. . . not as a form of mental punishment.
Progress often begins with clarity. Define what your ideal role and culture look like.
✨ What kind of role actually excites you?
🎉 What kind of culture would support—not drain—you?
And then… balance, my friend.
🥵 Don’t fly too close to the sun: Avoid creating a laundry list of expectations that no real job can meet.
🌊 Don’t fly too close to the water: Desperation can cloud your judgment. Panic-applying to roles you know are not the right fit will only land you in a new version of the job you’re trying to escape.
🎯 Do aim for a clear, focused middle: a list of 5–7 must-haves. These are the non-negotiables that matter most to you and keep your search aligned with your bigger career aspirations.
💡 Do be realistic about that list: If you’re asking for something you don’t yet reflect, there may be some growth required. That could mean upskilling, shifting your mindset, or simply rest. Sometimes the most powerful move forward is a well-timed pause.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You don’t need to do it all at once.
You just need to begin—and keep moving forward.
